Every autumn, when the vegetables are ready to eat, children pick large orange pumpkins. Then they cut faces in the pumpkins and put a burning candle inside. It looks as if there were a person looking out of the pumpkin! These lights are called jack-o‘-lanterns, which means "Jack of the lantern".
The children also put on strange masks and frightening costumes every Halloween. Some children paint their faces to look like monsters. Then they carry boxes or bags from house to house. Every time they come to a new house, they say,"Trick or treat! Money or eat!" The grown-ups put treat-money or candy in their bags.
Not only children, but most grown-ups also love Halloween and Halloween parties because on this day,they can disguise themselves as personages or ghost as their imaginations will lead them. This bring them the satisfaction of being young.

每年的10月31日是西方國家的傳統節日----萬圣節。在萬圣節前夕，我們杭州網的小記者展開了一次“萬圣節英語文化之旅”。
我和媽媽早早地來到了活動集合地點，報到后領了一張活動的介紹。等人差不多齊了后，我們各自得到了一個英文名，然后來到了一個充滿萬圣節氣氛的小屋：神秘的黑色城堡與墳墓；詭異的南瓜燈；墻上貼滿了各種各樣的妖魔鬼怪的圖案······讓人直冒冷汗。
活動開始了，首先是通過一個小短片讓我們知道了萬圣節的由來：萬圣節最早是愛爾蘭人驅趕鬼神的.節日，又叫“夏之盡頭”。但信奉神的教皇不同意了，便把11月1日訂為跪拜鬼神的節日，但10月31日晚要驅趕鬼神的呀，于是正式把“夏之盡頭”改為“Hlloween(萬圣節)”。據說這一天在西方國家，孩子們都會穿上精靈古怪的衣服提著南瓜燈挨家挨戶討糖吃。
既然說到挨家討糖吃，接下來我們就玩了“Trick or treat（不給糖就搗蛋）”的游戲。我提了一盞南瓜燈敲了敲門，笑嘻嘻地說：“Trick or treat”，然后走進門，老師就給我了兩顆糖。耶！太容易了！
最好玩的要數“咬蘋果”了。老師把蘋果懸掛在繩子上讓我們去咬，但只能用嘴不能用手，誰先咬到，誰就是優勝者。輪到我了，我挑了個最中間的蘋果準備下嘴。可是我的嘴剛碰到蘋果，它就“跳”開了，反復嘗試了好幾次，都以失敗告終。我急了，對準蘋果張大嘴露出鋒利的牙齒狠狠地咬了下去。嗚……蘋果“逃”得更快了，還來了個“反彈”，我的鼻子！游戲時間到了，雖然我沒有咬到蘋果，但作為鼓勵老師還是送了我一只蘋果。哈哈！我連忙用雙手接過蘋果咬了下去。這下你“逃”不掉了吧，用手拿著吃就是方便啊！
這次杭州網小記者的“萬圣節英語文化之旅”可真有意思！

UP國際少兒英語的老師給我們上了一堂生動有趣的英語課。教室里，“黑蜘蛛”爬在墻上，各種南瓜燈和“妖魔鬼怪”的'可怕面具一列排開。老師把燈光熄掉，給我們看了有關萬圣節來歷的影片，我們學會了好多英語單詞。
兩個萬圣節的傳統游戲更是讓我們感受到了這個西方節日的趣味。Trick or Treat“不給糖吃就搗亂”：我們兩人一組去敲“主人”家的門，嘴里說著“Trick or Treat”，“主人”熱情地邊說“You are welcome”邊從南瓜帽中掏出幾顆糖果給我們吃。
另一個叫作Apple bobbing“咬蘋果”，游戲的規則是要咬到蘋果但不能用手幫忙。工作人員用筷子插在蘋果中間，再懸掛在繩子上。同學們五個一組，分別站著去咬蘋果，一個個伸直脖子漲紅了臉。我也躍躍欲試，終于輪到我啦，隨著老師的口令“one、two、three，go！”我使勁向掛在面前的蘋果咬去，嘴巴剛碰到蘋果，蘋果就滑開了。我不服氣地繼續去咬，可蘋果卻不停地溜走，我無奈地撓撓臉，還沒想到辦法游戲就結束了。
