開始讀《城南舊事》的時候，只覺得主人公英子是一個在老北京生活的普通小女孩，但是自從認識了惠安館的.“瘋子”——秀貞，也慢慢發現秀貞口中說的自己丟失的女兒小桂子和自己的童年伙伴妞兒就是同一個人。但最讓我難過的是在一個漆黑的夜晚，秀貞母女上了一輛洋車去找妞兒的爸爸，當我還沉浸在秀貞母女一家人幸福相聚的喜悅中時，故事的結局卻和我開了一個玩笑，我不相信也敢相信秀貞母女是被火車撞死了，媽媽也告訴我這是真的，看到這里我難過極了，不禁為她們母女倆的凄慘命運感到惋惜，為什么火車沒能讓一家人團聚呢?為什么所有的過錯都要讓這個找爸爸的小女孩來承受呢?妞兒還不曾享受過父母的疼愛，老天對妞兒的不公平，讓我思緒萬千……
合上書，仿佛英子就在我眼前，她想告訴我：珍惜現在的美好時光吧!能和自己的父母每天快樂的生活在一起，是何等的幸福啊!
