“一頁，兩頁，我像一匹餓狼，貪婪地讀著，我很快樂，也很懼怕――這種竊讀的滋味。”每讀到這里，我腦海里便浮現出來一個小女孩手捧著書，站在書店一角，壓著心中的不安，如饑似渴讀書的`樣子。情不自禁地聯想到自己借書來讀的時候，那心情也是：自己沒有書，好不容易向人借到一本，心里十分高興，可又夾雜著幾分擔憂。高興的是終于借來了自己喜歡的書，擔憂的是怕時間太緊，唯恐到了還書的時間還沒有讀完。因為心中擔憂著那本書“今日存，明日去”，于是趁著書還在自己手中，便抓緊時間，快讀，細讀，專心讀。與此相反，家中的書，反到是倒是久置于書架，不曾多翻。總想著，這是自己的書，只要自己愿意，隨時隨地都可以取來讀。心中不急，時間自然也就放松了。今天想：“今日事多，明日再讀。”明日又想：“晚讀一天也不打緊，后天再讀吧。”就這樣日復一日，書仍在書架上睡大覺。
想來，不管是竊讀也好，借讀也罷，都是提醒我們，要時時帶著受人督催的心理讀書。在讀書時，要有一種唯恐時間不多，時不再來，唯恐失去讀書機會的緊迫感，這樣才更能體會到讀書的不易，拿到書后就舍不得讓它離開，而能夠專心讀，認真讀，快讀，多記，收到更好的讀書效果了。
